Trace Adkins Announces Free Concert in Tornado-Stricken Mayfield, Bringing Hope and Healing Through Music

Country music star Trace Adkins has officially announced a special free concert dedicated to the resilient community of Mayfield, Kentucky, a town that was devastated by a powerful tornado in December 2021. This heartfelt gesture comes as part of Adkins’ ongoing commitment to using his platform to support communities in need across America.

The concert, titled “Somewhere in America: A Concert for Mayfield,” will take place at CFSB War Memorial Stadium at Mayfield High School. It is scheduled for Saturday, May 20, with gates opening at 6 p.m. and the main show beginning at 8 p.m. The event is entirely free to the public, with no tickets required, allowing anyone in the area to attend and share in an evening of music, unity, and recovery.

In his public statement, Trace Adkins expressed both sorrow and admiration for the people of Mayfield. “What happened in Mayfield was truly heartbreaking,” Adkins said. “But the strength and determination of this community have inspired me. This concert is my way of saying: You are not alone. We see you. We support you.”

The concert is being organized in partnership with Kioti Tractor, a company that has also been involved in local recovery efforts. According to event organizers, food trucks, family-friendly activities, and shuttle services from overflow parking areas will be available to accommodate the expected large crowd.

Mayfield’s mayor, Kathy O’Nan, shared her gratitude toward Adkins and the event sponsors, describing the concert as more than just entertainment. “For our town, this is a moment to take a breath, to come together not just to remember the hardship, but to celebrate how far we’ve come,” she said in a statement. “Trace Adkins bringing his music here is a gift we will never forget.”

Adkins has long been known for supporting military veterans, first responders, and disaster relief efforts throughout his career. His 2021 album and tour, Somewhere in America, were inspired by everyday heroes across the country, making this concert in Mayfield especially fitting.

Fans from surrounding states have already begun making plans to attend, not only to enjoy the music but also to show solidarity with Mayfield residents. Social media has been flooded with supportive messages, with one fan writing, “Trace Adkins showing up for Mayfield shows what country music is really about: family, faith, and community.”

Though it’s been more than two years since the tornado tore through Mayfield, the road to full recovery continues. Many homes, schools, and businesses are still under repair or rebuilding. Community leaders hope this concert will provide both a morale boost and national attention to their ongoing needs.

In his announcement video, Adkins closed with a heartfelt message: “Music has a way of healing. I hope everyone who comes out leaves with a little more hope in their heart.”
